Jono Lomax is a visual artist and filmmaker whose work explores the relationship between people, landscape, and systems of power through both still and moving images. His projects often draw on documentary practices and observational filmmaking, examining how histories, communities, and environments shape one another.
His films have screened internationally at festivals including London, Madrid, Sydney, and Manchester. Recent works include Breaking Silence, a three-part film developed in collaboration with the choir Raised Voices, and Erosion, a short film exploring landscape and time through experimental documentary form.
Alongside his independent practice, Lomax collaborates with musicians and artists, producing films, music videos, and visual works. He has created multiple films with Copy Press through their Becoming Fireflies, working closely with artists to translate sound and performance into moving image.
His work emphasizes themes of history, landscape, architecture, and community, often imagining alternative or more egalitarian ways of living together.
Jono holds a Master’s in Filmmaking from Kingston University and a Bachelor’s in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales.
